I wonder if someone in this group can answer a question about DVD
storage. I use DiscGear Selector 100 (http://discgear.com/retail.asp) to store my CD's. The company promotes them for DVD storage as well, but I've been reluctant to use them because I've heard the wrong storage case can damage the DVD. When I tried to ask the company, I got repeated emails trying to sell me more units. Does anyone know if the DiscGear storage system is safe for DVDs ? Sande Sande |

My understanding is that the issue with some CD storage cases being used for DVDs comes down to stress on the center hole and excessive flexing during removal of the disc. CDs (not counting SACDs) are single-layer and can take more stress than DVDs, the majority of which are dual-layer. The product you named seems to present no stress on the center hole and no flexing of the disc at all. My question is, if you have a system that requires a separate album to hold the inserts, why not just use albums that hold inserts _and_ discs on the same page? Kimba W. Lion |

Thanks for the input. You're correct; there's no stress on the center
hole at all. The disk sits on it's edge in a slot and is lifted by it's edge when you open the lid of the unit. I'm not using the inserts at all. Each unit has a tray at the bottom where you can maintain a list of the disks in the unit. I'm using the DiscGears to reduce storage space. Sande Kimba W.
