Burning DVD from AVI?

I'm a newbie and I've just burned my first two DVDs from avi files. I
used Procoder to convert to vob files and then burned them with Nero. They
both look and play great but I can't fast forward or stop them, the only
command that works is pause. What do I need to do to make them so that the
FF and stop commands work? Thanks for the help.

I have a question also. I downloaded an avi file from the net. It will
be put on a DVD. I want to be able to play this movie to my home DVD
player. How do i do it? It can play on my computer no problem, but not
on my home DVD player. Any explanations would be appreciated. Thanks.
