I've read the book on which this film is based; its author, James
Siegal, co-wrote the screenplay. I have bemoaned finishing other
good books: Oh no! Now I can't read-that-book-for-the-first-time
anymore! This book satisfied me so well... (for more look for The
Blind Man @ http://the-blind-man.blogspot.com/).

The few previews that have come out have not been good. Most of had
said that Aniston and Owen are miscast. I feel only the fan of these
two actors will see it. Even thou I like them both. I will wait for
the DVD.

Looks like it bombed. 27% at Rotten Tomatoes.

I saw that. To bad. The most of the reveiws I have read so far are
more pointing at Jen's performance. More than the rest of the cast.
Which is to bad. She out of the rest needs to be proven that she can
be more than a TV star. I am one of a few that never got into Friends.
I have only seen her in the movies. And what I have seen, she is a
good actor. She is better at light style movies. I did like her in
The Good Girl. Let's hope she does well with the other one that is
coming out in Dec. I think it's called Rumor Has It.

My wife still insists on seeing Vincent Cassel on the big screen up close
and personal. God help me.

I have to admit I would love to see more of Vincent Cassel. He is very
good actor.

I heard one reviewer say she was serviceable in the role but that the
script was ridiculous. The ad is obnoxious and offputting, but I almost
always recoil from the crass manipulations of ads and previews. Is the
much vaunted secret twist of the film that she's a femme fatale in the
end? leave those roles to Angelina?

She does seem to fare best in light comedy; she has some comic skills
- her turn on SNL was above average.

That's my assessment, precisely. JA is OK in the role as far as her acting
goes. But the script is insane and ludicrous, a complete mess, and JA is NOT
a good fit for a role of this kind. She is simply not believable as the
character she turns out to be.

You're on the right track w/ that, and I agree completely: AJ would've been
much better suited for a role like this...even though the plot would still
be absurd and utterly cliché. It's been done to death. See my other comments
in a separate post.

She can act, and has some appeal...but not in a heavy role, or as a master
conniver and manipulator. I liked her in Good Girl. I agree she could handle
comedy and lighter drama,,,cute, simple romance films. She just doesn't have
the acting chops or screen persona suited for a thriller.
