avi/mpeg to DVD

I would like to burn a number of short videos (avi or mpeg) to a dvd
with a gap of a few seconds between each one.
I have been looking at Winavi - but I can't tell from the web site if
this is possible.
(I don't mind buying the right package).

Can anyone advise if winavi does this or recommend a different
program?
