Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD: THE MIKE
JUDGE COLLECTION: VOLUME ONE, BOLLYWOOD DREAMS, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS: UNRATED EDITION, FOR YOUR HEIGHT ONLY / CHALLENGE OF THE TIGER, IMAGINING ARGENTINA, THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, PLAGA ZOMBIE: MUTANT ZONE, SACRED FLESH, WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE: UNCUT EDITION, and YES: BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD: THE MIKE JUDGE COLLECTION: VOLUME ONE (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 88/100): "Beavis and Butthead: The Mike Judge Collection -- Volume One presents the short cartoons, but not the entire episode. Missing are the video commentaries, which were often the funniest part of the show. They do include 11 videos in this format on the third disc, but it seems short. I'd like to see more of these on future sets, but seems rights issues make it cost prohibitive." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/be...ttheadvol1.php BOLLYWOOD DREAMS (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall score 83/100): "Hollywood doesn't make movies like this, but it used to. The exaggerated expressions and gestures remind me of Hollywood's silent era; the throwbacks to Technicolor musicals (the DVD case compares this one to Singing in the Rain, with good reason) are even more obvious." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/bollywooddreams.php THE DEVIL'S REJECTS: UNRATED EDITION (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall score 82/100): "The Devil's Rejects is a bloody mess of a movie. There are shootings, impalings, multiple deaths, and scenes of torture and mutilation that would make Ed Gein flinch. This movie is not a pretty sight." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/devilsrejects.php FOR YOUR HEIGHT ONLY / CHALLENGE OF THE TIGER (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100): "What a great, fun, profoundly weird movie. A far-out take on James Bond films (featuring strangely similar music), For Your Height Only is hilarious -- but I'm not entirely sure it was supposed to be a comedy." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/heighttiger.php IMAGINING ARGENTINA (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 80/100): "The fact that Carlos can 'see' what is happening to various members of the 'disappeared' is one of the weirdest ways of presenting the pain of a country's cruel past ever created. The narrative really doesn't need this ditzy device -- a standard switch back-and-forth behind Cecilia's trials and Carlos's search would have been perfectly fine." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/im...gargentina.php THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Cynthia Boris, overall score 90/100): "Though the show appears to be about a famous singing group, it's really about a family who just happens to be famous, which is what makes the show quirky and different from your average family sitcom. Sure, they have their showbiz problems, like the time the skunk sneaked on to the tour bus or when they played host to a contest-winning fan. But they also had the typical suburban sitcom problems such as tonsils that must come out, teenagers with impossible crushes, and the tribulations of being a single parent." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pa...ilyseason2.php PLAGA ZOMBIE: MUTANT ZONE (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 98/100): "This bravado brainchild of Argentinean auteurs Pablo Pares and Hernan Saez is like watching Peter Jackson's private personal video experiments, or Sam Raimi's first forays into Evil Dead-based fright." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/plagazombie.php SACRED FLESH (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 84/100): "Do all of these soft-core shenanigans, modern touches, and highbrow religious ruminations meld into a cohesive movie? Not quite. But they do meld into a memorable one that will single-handedly resuscitate the nunsploitation genre. I mean that in a good way." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/sacredflesh.php WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE: UNCUT EDITION (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100): "Pure, unapologetic trash. That's what this film is. And it makes no excuses for its position high atop the Sleaze Barometer. Whatever you're expecting to get with a film titled Women's Prison Massacre is what you're likely to get." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/wo...onmassacre.php YES (reviewed by Joe Armenio, overall score 84/100): "Most of the writing is quite good, and one set piece, Sheila Hancock's internal deathbed monologue, is truly majestic. He and She's amorous wine bar exchange is intended to be another bravura passage, but sounds like a passage from a breathless, high-toned romance novel, intoned with a deadly humorlessness."
