This may not be to right group to post this two so I apologize if its
considered off topic. I'm a HUGE Night Court fan, and I just got word that they are going to start releaseing "best of night court" dvds. Awhile back they released the first season and I was hoping that the other seasons would follow. But with word of these "best of" dvds I'm worried about the Season sets future. Does anyone know if they are planning to release the rest of the season sets or not? TVLand is now playing them but I would rather wait for the DVD sets, but if they aren't going to release them I need to start getting them off of TVLAND. Anyone know anything??? ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- SBFan2000 |

Dont know if this helps or not.
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=4390 SitcomsOnlline.com has posted in last Thursday's News Blog that Night Court will be among a new group of sitcom titles in their Televsion Favorites" lineup of DVD releases. These are typically a single-disc release for around $10 SRP with anywhere from 3 to 6 episodes from the show featured on the disc. Blog writer Pavan Badal says that this is "promised", but doesn't indicate that this is a hard announcement just yet. It sounds like he was told by his sources that these releases are meant to test the waters for possible season-set releases later on, but Pavan points out - and we agree completely - that this is very strange in Night Court's case since a Complete 1st Season set is already out, and anecdotal evidence is that it sold quite well upon its release this past February. We're therefore looking as confused as Bull Shannon typically is over why Warner feels the need to go back to a "best-of" format, but stay tuned and we'll try to find out more and fill you in on any further developments. |

The Torme estate probably wants a gabillion million dollars for his
appearances and songs. Remember, when Night Court came on, talkies just barely existed. Nobody, not even an Apollo astronaut could conceive of a 5.25 inch disk putting out 480 lines of progressive scan resolution and lasting nearly forever. Who can blame their shortsightedness? -beaumon |

I'm not sure about Night Court, but several shows of that time frame did not
have residuals for the actors! The actors got paid for their performance and that was it! Some did some didn't, they sure didn't get the outrageous residual sums of todays "stars." I certainly hope that isn't going to be a problem for night court. I have waited years and years for them to come out with them either on DVD or years ago on VHS. You have a point though, even if the actors don't get residuals its possible Torme had that in his contract, I hope not, or at the very least I hope that won't be a sticking point. I would assume they would just get a piece of every unit sold. Anyway, think I'm going to start recording off of TVLAND, DVD-Rs are cheap enough I can always toss them if the season sets come out. Was hoping to avoid doing this though. <> wrote in message news: oups.com... > The Torme estate probably wants a gabillion million dollars for his > appearances and songs. Those broadcast versions of the show have been horribly transferred.
The video is murky green to yellow, and considering other shows of it's time, it's a disservice to viewers and fans alike ! |

And he was only in nine of the 193 episodes, according to tv.com. My guess is that if his estate was causing trouble, they'd simply not issue those particular episodes - or threaten to do that.... As a born optimist, I'm hoping that the "best of" issues are *in addition* to the season sets, rather than instead them - they've done that with the Simpsons. paul |
