UDF or ISO for AVI/MPG ??????

Hi,
for burning avi or mpg files 400MB with nero for later viewing on PC or
possibly on DVD without encoding which is file format is best ISO or UDF and
what is the difference between the two. My dvd player is a Philips and
plays most formats but not all,
