Default DVD Verdict reviews: SAUL AND DAVID, JOSEPH AND HIS BRETHREN, and more!

Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of GREAT LEADERS OF THE BIBLE,
JACOB, THE MAN WHO FOUGHT WITH GOD, JOSEPH AND HIS BRETHREN, and SAUL
AND DAVID:

GREAT LEADERS OF THE BIBLE (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 80/100):
"What's that? You only know Gideon is somehow connected to those Bibles
you find in your motel rooms? And you're pretty sure Samson was a really
strong guy with a scruffy haircut? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Let us revisit these
stories then, shall we?"

JACOB, THE MAN WHO FOUGHT WITH GOD (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 80/100):
"The strongest aspect of the film, which is shared by the other discs in
the collection, is the sense that the filmmakers take the material
seriously. Some costly production obviously went into this bad boy, and
while it's not seat-glueingly exciting, the narrative is competent and
the production is terrific."

JOSEPH AND HIS BRETHREN (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score
79/100):
"Potiphar looks like someone's Uncle Ralph, as if a desperate crew
member dragged a relative on set to fill the role, and the whole
romantic intrigue with Potiphar's wife is doomed from the start -- and,
as a result, pointless -- but Joseph's story from beginning to end gets
a decent treatment."

SAUL AND DAVID (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 77/100):
"I found the film laborious, and this is one of my all-time favorite
stories! But if you must have your Old Testament fix, the production
values and acting are solid enough that you won't weep and gnash your
teeth -- too much."
