Default DVD Verdict reviews: SWIMMING UPSTREAM, IT'S EASIER FOR A CAMEL..., and more!

Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE COURTESANS OF BOMBAY, IT'S
EASIER FOR A CAMEL..., MARRYING THE MAFIA, NAKED IN THE 21ST CENTURY,
SWIMMING UPSTREAM, and TO CATCH A KING:

THE COURTESANS OF BOMBAY (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall
score 45/100):
"This is the most staid, proper docudrama on courtesans ever."

IT'S EASIER FOR A CAMEL... (reviewed by Ian Visser, overall score
60/100):
"It's Easier for a Camel... is a film that is unlikely to satisfy
anyone. The tone is so uneven that watching the film, the viewer is
never sure what emotions it is trying to evoke."

MARRYING THE MAFIA (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 60/100):
"I hate this kind of movie. I hate them when they're produced here, and
I don't like them any better when they're imported from overseas. I'm
not sure how Marrying the Mafia managed to be the highest grossing film
in Korea in 2002, but it might have something to do with its riding the
coattails of My Sassy Girl, the funniest romantic comedy ever made."

NAKED IN THE 21ST CENTURY (reviewed by Neal Solon, overall score
45/100):
"Unfortunately, the filmmakers often use dialogue between Amber and
other fictional characters to try to communicate facts about the history
of the naturist movement. The effect of this is that the viewer is left
trying to discern between fact and fiction, a worthless pursuit when
pertinent information from the film can easily be found elsewhere."

SWIMMING UPSTREAM (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall score 75/100):
"The film plays slightly like revenge against a cruel father, and while
he seems to deserve it, I'm not sure the audience does. I longed for
more depth, more of a character study of Tony or the father or both, but
Swimming Upstream is afraid to take the plunge into the deep end."

TO CATCH A KING (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall score 79/100):
"If you've read the Jack Higgins book, you'll notice that it loses
something in the translation. The story's there, but the characters were
more finely drawn in print."
