Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of CRASH (2004), GHOSTBUSTERS I AND II
(DOUBLE FEATURE GIFTSET), KUNG FU HUSTLE, LE NOTTI BIANCHE: CRITERION COLLECTION, MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION, THE SIMPSONS: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON, 3-IRON, THE TRANSPORTER: SPECIAL DELIVERY EDITION, and THE TRUMAN SHOW: SPECIAL EDITION: CRASH (2004) (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 96/100): "Quite often we feel like we live in an enlightened age where we should stop being so sensitive to each other's words and perhaps give up being so politically correct. The truth is we still have a long way to go. Racism runs rampant in America, it's just a lot less formal now. Crash will challenge you. It'll make you laugh, cry, and think a lot about how you react to others. What a shame that it took five years to get made." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/crash2004.php GHOSTBUSTERS I AND II (DOUBLE FEATURE GIFTSET) (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 86/100): "If you already own the previous Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 releases, there isn't anything mind-blowingly compelling on this new release to make you ditch the old ones and fork over the bones for this set. However, if you don't own the films and have been thinking about making a purchase, these discs are your best bet." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/gh...ersgiftset.php KUNG FU HUSTLE (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall score 96/100): "Nothing here is to be taken seriously, and that's not a problem. The abundance of exaggeration gives the movie a fresh and invigorating ebb and flow, and I ended up having a fantastic time watching this goofy story unfold." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/kungfuhustle.php LE NOTTI BIANCHE: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 91/100): "Like an elegy to the emotion it best exemplifies, Le Notti Bianche is a tender, bittersweet slice of unbridled radiance, an ode to the concept of the instant connection, and a prayer for a preference of the present over the past." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/lenottibianche.php MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 84/100): "The comedy can be crude, made up of insults and outright attacks, and every emotion is set at simmer, just waiting for the proper cue to boil over. Still, Perry's exceptional company, as well as his own freewheeling turn as Madea, makes this hokum hard to hate." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/ma...ilyreunion.php THE SIMPSONS: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 93/100): "At the end of the day, however, The Simpsons second squad beats a lot of other shows' starters, so to speak." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/simpsonsseason6.php 3-IRON (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 90/100): "Ambiguous and thought-provoking, 3-Iron is one of those films that some people will love and others will find dull and pointless. Few will deny that it's one of the most unique films in recent memory, though, as Kim Ki-duk has once again taken a simple premise and turned it into a deep, challenging work." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/3iron.php THE TRANSPORTER: SPECIAL DELIVERY EDITION (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall score 82/100): "I enjoyed The Transporter. It's not an especially innovative or inventive film, but it mixes in something new every now and then in its numerous action scenes. If you need a quick action fix, this one isn't a bad choice. Jason Statham is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the action world. He looks like he really could be a rough and tumble transporter, and that whiff of believability is all you need to keep on watching." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/transporterse.php THE TRUMAN SHOW: SPECIAL EDITION (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 95/100): "It is a great film, and this DVD does justice to Weir's entertaining and slightly chilling view of the media and the world."
