Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of CRACKER: THE COMPLETE U.S. SERIES,
THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, MONK: SEASON TWO,
MONK: SEASON THREE, ROSWELL: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (THE FINAL
CHAPTER), STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, SEASON TWO, THE THORN BIRDS: THE
MISSING YEARS, A TOUCH OF FROST: SEASON SIX, and WONDERFALLS: THE
COMPLETE VIEWER COLLECTION:

CRACKER: THE COMPLETE U.S. SERIES (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
score 77/100):
"'Cracker is the greatest episodic crime series ever.' That's what my
colleague Judge Bill Gibron wrote about the British detective series
starring Robbie Coltrane. I won't be saying that, or anything like it,
about its American remake."

THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by
Dennis Prince, overall score 96/100):
"Fans of the show feared Fox made a grave misstep in its first season
release, a glowing collection of goodies at a potentially prohibitive
price-point. Seemingly, the studio has determined to try the same act --
at the same price -- again."

MONK: SEASON TWO (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall score 91/100):
"As an aside, it must be noted that Ted Levine has the most
extraordinary voice I've ever heard on television. It rumbles so deeply
that you are likely not to be able to hear it without the aid of a
subwoofer. He sounds like a 78 RPM record slowed down to 33 1/3. If you
don't know what that means, ask an adult."

MONK: SEASON THREE (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 87/100):
"The stories themselves are somewhat formulaic; one can only revisit the
whodunit genre so many times before it gets a little bit stale. However,
the show presents some ongoing character development, and the manner in
which Monk manages to solve each case illustrates how creative his
problem solving is."

ROSWELL: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (THE FINAL CHAPTER) (reviewed by
Brett Cullum, overall score 88/100):
"I hope Max, Michael, and Isabel found happiness with each other, and
always stayed one step ahead of the government. I'll miss them."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/roswellseason3.php

STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, SEASON TWO (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall
score 78/100):
"I am finally ready and able to admit that this show is without a doubt
the worst in the franchise."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/enterpriseseason2.php

THE THORN BIRDS: THE MISSING YEARS (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall
score 61/100):
"This quasi-sequel was broadcast in 1996, and covers a short period of
time during World War Two, which was not so much 'missing' as
'considered unnecessary in the original book and miniseries.'"

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/th...ssingyears.php

A TOUCH OF FROST: SEASON SIX (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
score 86/100):
"Nonetheless, this season is lighter-weight than the previous one, and
although that makes it less emotionally draining, it also means that
sometimes it seems to be coasting."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/touchfrostseason6.php

WONDERFALLS: THE COMPLETE VIEWER COLLECTION (reviewed by Michael
Stailey, overall score 99/100):
"Each of the series' 13 episodes is a smorgasbord of mistaken
identities, hidden agendas, and wacky miscarriages of justice, in a
world populated by the richest, most colorful characters television has
seen in quite some time."

How is $29.98 a "potentially prohibitive price point" for a full
season of MTM?, including some nice extras? Taxi costs the same with
NO extras.

Am I just out of touch with normal pricing? Or did the reviewer mean
the price was too low for Fox to make money?

This is one of those series that never got a chance on Fox. I've
showed part of an episode to two different people, and each of them
rushed right out and bought a set, then bitched about how when they
lent their set out they couldn't get it back.

If you want something smart and funny and offbeat, this is it.
