Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE BROWNING VERSION: CRITERION
COLLECTION, CHU CHIN CHOW, COLLATERAL, GRACE AND THE STORM, GUESS WHO,
THE LIGHTSHIP, and STEAMBOY:

THE BROWNING VERSION: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Steve Evans,
overall score 95/100):
"Only the most jaded viewer would dismiss The Browning Version as much
ado about nothing, although a brief plot outline could give this
impression. The characters are unpleasant, stiff, and devoid of feeling.
Their plights are petty and mostly self-inflicted. Only when we discover
their inner pain, the remorse that comes with the realization of a
wasted life, do we feel pity for the universal humanity grown stagnant
in their souls."

CHU CHIN CHOW (reviewed by Jesse Ataide, overall score 80/100):
"It seems essential to take a historical approach while viewing Chu Chin
Chow, because to modern eyes and ears, it almost inevitably comes off as
an overblown, ridiculously hokey mess of a movie. "

COLLATERAL (reviewed by Bryan Byun, overall score 97/100):
"The film rests upon the work of Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, and both
actors deliver revelatory performances."

GRACE AND THE STORM (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 82/100):
"Writer/director Christopher Baldi fills this, his first feature film,
with so many interesting sequences of searing drama that, when it all
fails to flow together effortlessly, we are left wondering why."

GUESS WHO (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 78/100):
"The film was originally titled The Dinner Party while it was shooting;
I am not sure why they decided to rename it Guess Who. It's unfortunate
they did, because now the title makes you want to compare the movie to
the Sidney Poitier film. Guess Who's Coming To Dinner was a movie that
took on the political and emotional issues behind an interracial
marriage, but Guess Who isn't concerned with making any political
statements. The biggest problem is that Guess Who is what it is, which
is completely inoffensive."

THE LIGHTSHIP (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"I think most people will get a kick out of Caspary, but Duvall's
performance is so eccentric it seems contrived. His Southern-tinged, long-
winded monologues are too cutesy for my taste; it's like he's not really
a bad guy but the writers' idea of what a cool bad guy would be."

STEAMBOY (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 78/100):
"The best art design, ten years of hard work, and a massive budget mean
nothing unless a project begins with a good script. That turns out to be
Steamboy's downfall. Although there are a couple decent action
sequences, much of the film gets bogged down by endless exposition and
moral debate."
