What happens if a disk is dusty, or dirty or scratched?
All of a sudden, the machine playing it has to come up
with a way to deal with a much greater data loss compared
to DVD since the "pits" are much smaller. So, do the upcoming
machines do that "read ahead, fill in the blanks" trick or do
they simply jump over the garbled data or, do they lock up and
say "cannot play this disk?" This will play a major role in the
rental market, for obvious reasons.
