Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BE COOL, BIZARRE, D.E.B.S., THE
DESPERATE TRAIL, EVERYONE, FRENCH SEX MURDERS, ROCK OPERA, SEED OF CHUCKY, THREE VIOLENT PEOPLE, and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE: SET 1: BE COOL (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 60/100): "Apparently Steinfeld's first order of business was to jettison Leonard's dialogue and replace it with junk so poorly written it wouldn't pass muster on a UPN sitcom. He then screwed with the plot, turned most of the characters into idiotic stereotypes, and added completely unnecessary scenes (he also removed Leonard's ironic jabs at the nature of sequels in general)." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/becool.php BIZARRE (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 52/100): "Bizarre wants to preach about the never-ending battle between men and women, and even tries to connect these gender grapples to the boudoir. But all this does is give director Antony Balch a chance to stage his Curious Yellow yawn inducers like elements of a dance hall review." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/bizarre.php D.E.B.S. (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 60/100): "You know what? If D.E.B.S. hadn't been promoted as a spoof, I'm not sure I would have known it was meant to be a spoof, and I'm still not sure exactly what is being spoofed." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/debs.php THE DESPERATE TRAIL (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 65/100): "Hey, it's a Western starring Sam Elliott, which in itself says pretty much all you need to know." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/desperatetrail.php EVERYONE (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 65/100): "This is the movie to show to anyone contemplating marriage -- straight, gay, or interspecies. I think we may have found out why the 'runaway bride' hit the bus station before 'I do!' -- she probably watched this flick and lost all hope." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/everyone.php FRENCH SEX MURDERS (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 65/100): "If it wasn't for the stabbings and garrotings, we'd have nothing more than a failed attempt at the whodunit formula. While it's not 100 percent wrong, French Sex Murders is miles away from its intended intense thriller designs." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/frenchsexmurders.php ROCK OPERA (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall score 69/100): "If opera is tragedy, then Rock Opera is an overachiever." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/rockopera.php SEED OF CHUCKY (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 68/100): "The long and short of it is this: Seed of Chucky just isn't that funny. And since there are no serious horror elements present here, the flick's humor is the foundation -- and it's ain't strong." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/seedchucky.php THREE VIOLENT PEOPLE (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score 65/100): "Mainly for genre fans who want to be comprehensive in their viewing, the film might also appeal to Anne Baxter devotees who would get a kick out of watching another of her mercilessly manipulative characters." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/th...lentpeople.php THE TOMORROW PEOPLE: SET 1 (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall score 64/100): "The creators aren't trying to make it 'cool' for the non-fan audience, and they're not out to dumb it down for the short attention span crowd either. When the story suddenly jumps ahead 500 years, or a character announces he's an android in disguise, it's all just another day at the office for our heroes. And if it's too 'out there' for regular viewers, then that's just too bad."
