Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of APPLESEED, ARGUING THE WORLD, BALL
OF WAX, THE BATMAN: TRAINING FOR POWER (SEASON 1, VOLUME 1), DEVIL
HUNTER YOHKO: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION, E'S OTHERWISE: MIND BENDER
(VOLUME 2), THE FIVE STAR STORIES, KNIGHT ERRANT, and SHADOW STAR
NARUTARU (VOLUME 1):
APPLESEED (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 81/100):
"Where Appleseed shines is in action sequences, and boy, does it ever
shine. The opening set piece with Deunan taking on a horde of robotic
tanks is a mesmerizing onslaught of violence. Each bullet, kick,
explosion, and leap gleams with detail. It reminds me of the street
shootout in Heat, which is high praise considering that said shootout is
among the most adrenaline-charged action set pieces ever."

ARGUING THE WORLD (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall score 80/100):
"Arguing the World unfolds at a leisurely pace, but it will spark you to
realize what has been lost in the realm of true political discourse. If
politics is your fancy, then you must pick up this disc."

BALL OF WAX (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 89/100):
"Ball of Wax is a quite accomplished, incredibly provocative drama
that drains all the mythos and majesty out of your typical sports
film, only to replace it with vitriol, vice, and a clear sense of
cinematic vision."

THE BATMAN: TRAINING FOR POWER (SEASON 1, VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Mac
McEntire, overall score 82/100):
"How many times has Batman been reinvented by now? I've lost track.
A better question is: How is this version different from the
previous ones?"

DEVIL HUNTER YOHKO: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (reviewed by Adam Arseneau,
overall score 74/100):
"If you have never seen Devil Hunter Yohko, imagine Sailor Moon with
lots of blood and nudity, and you would be exactly on target, down to
the last molecule."

E'S OTHERWISE: MIND BENDER (VOLUME 2) (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
score 72/100):
"If only the creators of E's Otherwise were as good at assembling a plot
as they are at stealing ideas from other sci-fi franchises!"

THE FIVE STAR STORIES (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score
77/100):
"Take 400 characters, four galaxies with 1,700 systems apiece, one
emperor, two cups of highly complex sociopolitical structure, and a
pinch of massive robot, put them in a blender, and puree on high for 2
minutes. Pour 3/4 of a cup of the puree into a DVD-shaped mold, wait for
it to set, and then watch it at normal speed."

KNIGHT ERRANT (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 82/100):
"Although these battles lack the virtuosity and polish of later martial
arts movies, there's something really cool about these rough, inventive,
fast-paced fights."

SHADOW STAR NARUTARU (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
score 87/100):
"This series reminds us what it feels like to be young and dream,
whether those dreams are innocent or dark."
