fact, I'd go so far as to say I'm monumentally angry. I am angry at the
actors, writers, and directors. I'm angry at the crowds who propelled

man who directed the now-classic Evil Dead films, for crissake! -- for
producing the dull, lifeless, and shoddy turd known as Boogeyman."

HAACK: THE KING OF TECHNO (reviewed by Russell Engebretson, overall

"Phil Anagnos says he has gotten a lot of flack from many electronica
fans who argue Haack had nothing to do with techno. Anagnos defends his
choice of the title when he says, 'you can view techno as an electric
acid bass line, tweaked out, or it can be a whole aesthetic culture.'
Certainly, a strong argument can be made that Bruce Haack's electronic
experimentation was at least a precursor to later groups such as
Kraftwerk and Gary Numan, and those bands in turn were a strong
influence on artists as disparate as Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Black
Lung, to name just a few."

"While in 1979 the time was ripe for a feminist drama, the film has
weathered its age with grace thanks to Armstrong's light touch with the
material: Its message of female selfhood is conveyed with humor, warmth,
and a spirit of romance. It also helps that Sybylla is a heroine that
almost everyone should be able to relate to, not just women or
feminists."
