Default DVD Verdict reviews: SON OF THE MASK, THE CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL, and more!

Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BAD GIRLS FROM VALLEY HIGH, THE
BEDROOM WORKOUT FOR MEN: BETTER SEX THROUGH EXERCISE, BILL MAHER: BE
MORE CYNICAL, BURNING THE MAP, THE CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL, DOWN
AND OUT WITH THE DOLLS, GALAXY HUNTER, LUCKY 13, THE NAMELESS, and SON
OF THE MASK:

BAD GIRLS FROM VALLEY HIGH (reviewed by Patrick Bromley, overall
score 65/100):
"Bad Girls from Valley High is not a film that I hated, although I
didn't like it one bit. I have to reserve my feelings of hate for movies
that offend me to core or generate an inexplicable hostility within me,
and Bad Girls from Valley High did neither. All that it filled me with
was apathy and boredom, some annoyance, and a good deal of sleepiness.
Thankfully, there was a clock in plain view of the screen so that I had
something worth watching."

THE BEDROOM WORKOUT FOR MEN: BETTER SEX THROUGH EXERCISE (reviewed by
Bill Gibron, overall score 78/100):
"If you require a bigger member, if you have that propensity to pop
before the unskinny bop has even started, if you need help with
achieving proper peter rigidity, or can't remember what to do once you
get a babe in the boudoir, Andy Troy and The Bedroom Workout for Men
won't offer any solutions."

BILL MAHER: BE MORE CYNICAL (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall
score 78/100):
"His comedy is sharply honed and often good, but Maher comes off as a
very angry, bitter, cynical man who almost seems to take the opposite
side of society's norms...well, just so he can be on the opposite side.
It sometimes makes for a tedious hour of comedy."

BURNING THE MAP (reviewed by Bryan Pope, overall score 60/100):
"Humphrey and Turner know how to get a camera inside the barrel of a
wave and create hypnotic effects. These scenes were so vivid, I had to
suppress the urge to reach out and touch the water."

THE CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 78/100):
"Though it occasionally has plot holes the size of the Parthenon and
stumbles like a cockney flower girl reciting the Queen's English, The
Case of the Scorpion's Tail is actually a fairly decent Italian
thriller."

DOWN AND OUT WITH THE DOLLS (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall
score 41/100):
"If you're hoping for punks raging against society, you're out of luck.
If you want a movie about the power of rock music and how it can change
people, you won't get it here. What you will get are standard soap opera
plotlines about love triangles and romantic betrayals, peppered with
teen comedy fluff about the stupid things people do when they're drunk
and horny."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/do...twithdolls.php

GALAXY HUNTER (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 55/100):
"A low-budget Z-grade sci-fi flick of the highest caliber, Galaxy Hunter
is flush with all the necessary elements to allow it admission into the
Hall of B-Movie Crap: horrible special effects, ridiculous acting, a
nonsensical plot, and canoeloads of surgically enhanced nudity."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/galaxyhunter.php

LUCKY 13 (reviewed by Patrick Bromley, overall score 65/100):
"So fantastically uninteresting an actor is Brad Hunt that he's
upstaged by every other actor in every scene, regardless of who it is
or what the scene is about. When you find yourself thinking that you'd
rather be watching a movie about the girl who works at the grocery
store -- who only appears in a single scene, incidentally -- you know
there's a problem."

THE NAMELESS (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 68/100):
"With strong performances and brilliant horror cinematography, The
Nameless really hits the ground running. Then the bad script rears its
ugly head, bringing the whole thing crumbling apart before eventually
whimpering over the finish line ten minutes late."

SON OF THE MASK (reviewed by David Packard, overall score 58/100):
"Son of the Mask quietly slid into theaters earlier this year. It left
almost as quickly and just as quietly, limping straight to DVD. You
didn't have to be a film scholar to accurately predict these events --
not when the film's trailer always left my fellow moviegoers in stunned
silence, save for the occasional embarrassed chuckle or two whispered
during that awkward couple of seconds before the next trailer began."
