Believe me, you're not alone. Lots of fans would love to see the 60s
TV series on DVD, but it's been well established that the rights to the
series are caught up in red tape between several companies who seem to
have little interest in rectifying the situation.

Yeah, what he said. Although, if Batman Begins ends up being a big hit,
you'd think they'd have enough incentive to solve whatever issues they
have, in the interest of making money while the property is hot. Hope
does exist, though I wouldn't be saving your pennies just yet.

In the meantime, you can tide youself over with Batman: The Movie, Return
to the Batcave, and Holy Batmania.

Is the Batman TV series being shown on any TV channel at the moment?

Actually, that's not true. For one, it's not "several" companies, it's two:
Warner and Fox. For two, both of them are *very* interested in rectifying
the situation. The problem is that they have different ideas on how to do that.

The crux of the situation is that Fox owns the program (they produced it), while
Warner owns the characters (DC Comics is a Warner subsidiary).

Oh, good Lord....let's split hairs, shall we?

As for rectifying the situation, clearly they don't seem THAT
interested. If both sides (happy now?) really wanted to clear up the
mess, they'd do it.

Not if each one of them wanted the lion's share.

The animated series was far superior and as of Tuesday it will be 100%
available on DVD! Yay!
