Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ED, EDD 'N' EDDY: SEASON 1, VOLUME
1, THE FLINTSTONES: SEASON THREE, GHOST IN THE SHELL: STAND ALONE
COMPLEX (VOLUME 5), KAIJU BIG BATTEL: SHOCKING TRUTH, KOI KAZE: THE
REUNION (VOLUME 1), LUNAR LEGEND TSUKIHIME: NOCTURNAL FATE (VOLUME 3),
STAR WARS: A MUSICAL JOURNEY, TEEN TITANS: SWITCHED, and TRANSFORMERS
ENERGON: SHOCKBLAST UNLEASHED:

ED, EDD 'N' EDDY: SEASON 1, VOLUME 1 (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 83/100):
"Instead, this disc offers up only six Ed-ventures, picked seemingly
randomly from Season One and Season Two (note the original episode
numbers and air dates in the previous synopses). That's just weird, and
I have to think it comes as a disappointment to the die-hard Ed fans
who'd probably like to see a complete Season One release. What dork came
up with this idea?"

THE FLINTSTONES: SEASON THREE (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall
score 88/100):
"The birth of Wilma and Fred's baby, Pebbles, in 'Dress Rehearsal'
became a much hyped television event in 1962, a crafty move that not
only guaranteed a big audience for the blessed event, but also
helped break The Flintstones a little further away from just an
animated knock-off of The Honeymooners to become a cultural
phenomenon in its own right."

GHOST IN THE SHELL: STAND ALONE COMPLEX (VOLUME 5) (reviewed by Rob
Lineberger, overall score 95/100):
"Stand Alone Complex may have plateaued, but if you stand on top of that
plateau you'll be peering down from high above most anime titles."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/gitsvol5.php

KAIJU BIG BATTEL: SHOCKING TRUTH (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 92/100):
"Though Kaiju creators Rand and David Borden may not fully acknowledge
their agenda -- this is, after all, more or less wrestling taken to
terrific and tacky extremes -- they have hit upon a sensationally
satiric idea, the melding of two dumb bumpkin ideas into a magical
meditation on the fringes of fun."

KOI KAZE: THE REUNION (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
score 88/100):
"Koi Kaze starts with the odds stacked high against it. For one thing,
it's a love story between a 27-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl. And
she's his sister. How could such a relationship be humanized? Could it
be anything except one of those tacky anime shows featuring an ordinary
guy surrounded by cute fan service temptation?"

LUNAR LEGEND TSUKIHIME: NOCTURNAL FATE (VOLUME 3) (reviewed by Dan
Mancini, overall score 77/100):
"Moments of action and violence are too rare (and too poorly executed)
to bring the excitement necessary to balance out the melodrama and give
the story a sense of momentum. It's too bad, because the series offers a
unique and richly detailed vampire mythos, along with a wealth of
characters whose lives are entwined in the intricate manner that lends
the best soap operas their appeal."

STAR WARS: A MUSICAL JOURNEY (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall
score 80/100):
"The visuals are nice, but the real star here is John Williams, whose
compositions often transcend and elevate the more mundane happenings on-
screen. It is amazing how well much of the Star Wars cycle works as
silent film accompanied by Williams's rousing score."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/st...caljourney.php

TEEN TITANS: SWITCHED (reviewed by Maurice Cobbs, overall score 87/100):
"The wild elements are grounded in solid stories featuring well-
developed characters and clever writing: A kids' show this may be, but
the creators feel no need to talk down to their intended audience."

TRANSFORMERS ENERGON: SHOCKBLAST UNLEASHED (reviewed by Paul Corupe,
overall score 68/100):
"Pinballing from incredibly dense scenes of plot advancement to chaotic
laser battles, this show requires a unique mix of Attention Deficit
Disorder and intense concentration to sort out exactly what is
happening."
