comprehending what she thinks she's doing. It's impossible for us to
follow what passes for her thought processes, and although we aren't
meant to, it does make it harder to invest in the madcap chases,
clandestine meetings, murder attempts, and so on."

"Babies are universally hideous. People always coo over them and talk in
absurd nonsensical sentence fragments, but it's all really just to

"For a group groomed to succeed, their triumph was short lived and
wholly centralized (to Europe and Asia, mostly). Instead of breaking
through that gratuitous glass ceiling, this five-girl combo barely got

JULIA FORDHAM: THAT'S LIVE (reviewed by Russell Engebretson, overall

"Fortunately her passionate vocals overcome much of the banal
versifying. When she sings fine lyrics, like those she wrote for
'Roadside Angel' (dedicated to Minnie Riperton, who died of
breast cancer at the age of 32 and was one of Fordham's early
idols), she soars."

"It's all such juicy material, the sort that makes parody so wonderful,
especially when it comes at the expense of other people. But if the
intent here was for Eric Idle to actually parody his own parody, well
then it's all just a bit stupid, isn't it? Indeed, The Rutles 2: Can't
Buy Me Lunch becomes rather tiresome in the way that it retreads the
material already explored in the first show, the way it replays the
songs we've already heard from the first show, and how its title takes
just as long to type as the first show."
