I wasn't exactly hijacked, but the pop-up -unders etc.
finally slammed a new format into my MSIE5.5 display. I could (for about the third time) fix the problem by importing a known good copy of the registry - however, I didn't think to make one after my last batch of program installs... so I'd like to know where to edit the registry by hand - Problem: Maximized window does not display correctly. The "grey border" around a windows "pane" is normally used to re-size a window that is neither Max- nor Min- imized SHOULD go away when a window pane is maximized. I am NOT describing a "full size" window... that's F11. I am talking about the window you get when you either (a) use the "box" button (the middle button of the 3 on the top right of each window "pane")... or when you (b) double click on the (default) blue title bar at the top of the pane. the internet sites "slam" did not affect ALL windows, (explorer, find, etc.) - only the MSIE window. There must be a line somewhere in the registry (win95c) that sets the appearance and size characteristics of the default "maximized" appearance... where is it? what should it be showing?? Thanks for whatever help you can offer... J Russell j russell |

Just an additional comment. If you are getting a lot of pop-ups you should download a program like ad-aware and spy-bot. They tend to help alot on unwanted popups. Plus you might want to look into getting a popup stopper program. Url for ad-aware is http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ and you can find spy bot by going to 'www.downloads.com' (http://download.com.com/) and searching for search and destroy. the spy bot will be the first entry.
