Default DVD Verdict reviews: FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS and more!

Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ABC NEWS PRESENTS 25 ON 20/20,
AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL: CYCLE ONE, THE DUKES OF HAZZARD: THE COMPLETE
SECOND SEASON, FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS, HYSTERIA: THE DEF LEPPARD
STORY, JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED: SAVING THE WORLD, MARK TWAIN TONIGHT!,
TAXI: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, and THE WHITE SEAL / THE CRICKET IN
TIMES SQUARE:

ABC NEWS PRESENTS 25 ON 20/20 (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall
score 80/100):
"For the most part, it's a well-crafted special that smartly steers away
from doling too much congratulatory praise upon Walters. We are all
quite aware of her contribution to the medium, so instead the special
gives us a very quick taste of whom she has spoken to."

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL: CYCLE ONE (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 79/100):
"You walk away from America's Next Top Model with a new appreciation for
the amount of work it takes for a woman to go through all of this. They
suffer harsh conditions, endless criticism, and an unhealthy obsession
with weight and physical qualities. In the end, that's the most
compelling thing about the show. It's a look inside an ugly business
that peddles the beauty of the young and genetically gifted, all the
while treating them horribly. Who knew modeling was so rough? Hell, who
knew being a woman was so rough?"

THE DUKES OF HAZZARD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Paul
Corupe, overall score 85/100):
"The show was a phenomenally popular mix of hillbilly comedy and action-
filled mystery, all topped off with a bevy of leggy girls and even
better looking cars. Who wouldn't love the chance to slip into the
passenger seat of the General Lee and grab the CB to join anti-heroes Bo
and Luke in their struggle against the cartoonish Sheriff Roscoe and his
supervisor, the corpulent Boss Hogg. That's a 10-4, little buddy!"

FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall
score 92/100):
"Make no mistake: even with all the character development and shadowy
machinations, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars does not skimp on action.
The miniseries opens with the largest scale space combat yet seen in the
Farscape universe, and only escalates from there."

HYSTERIA: THE DEF LEPPARD STORY (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 45/100):
"Now the band must decide how to go on, Allen must decide if he'll ever
drum again, and we must decide if we'll ever watch another VH1-produced
'Movies That Rock' abomination."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/hysteria.php

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED: SAVING THE WORLD (reviewed by Bryan Pope,
overall score 85/100):
"Finally, there's Ace and Gary...I mean, Hawk and Dove. Indeed, these
characters bear more than a passing physical resemblance to Saturday
Night Live's Ambiguously Gay Duo, with their form-fitting, coordinating
outfits. One keeps expecting Hawk to send Dove into action with a
playful slap on the butt."

MARK TWAIN TONIGHT! (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall score 93/100):
"I would have been prepared to accept a merely workmanlike performance,
but Holbrook astonished me. In his mid-forties at the time, he portrays
the legendary author at the age of seventy, and he has the voice, the
posture, and the recognizable tics of an elderly man down pat. He also
has some of the most exquisite comic timing I have ever seen."

TAXI: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 87/100):
"Taxi was a quiet, jazzy show that went for big yuks and guffaws, but
was still sprinkled with poignant moments of real character development.
It set the tone for a lot of what was to come in television with its
workplace setting and friends-helping-each-other-out formula. It's a
shining example of how good a sitcom can be."

THE WHITE SEAL / THE CRICKET IN TIMES SQUARE (reviewed by Amanda DeWees,
overall score 82/100):
"These stories will appear unsophisticated next to much of today's movie
animation, but they should appeal to young children who have not yet
developed jaded palates. Parents may in fact find them refreshing in
their more relaxed pace and gentle tone (not to mention the lack of pop
songs and bodily function jokes)."
