Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION TWO,
DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION SEVENTEEN, DOG, THE BOUNTY HUNTER: THE BEST
OF SEASON ONE, FOREVER KNIGHT: THE TRILOGY, PART 2, GARFIELD AND
FRIENDS: VOLUME 2, I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON, MEN BEHAVING
BADLY: SEASONS ONE AND TWO, NYPD 24/7, PROFILE OF SERIAL KILLER, and
STARSKY AND HUTCH: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON:

DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION TWO (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 93/100):
"You could really start a serious collection of Dark Shadows with
these episodes, and just claim you are a Grayson Hall completeist for
the series. Or marry this one with Collection One, and you have all
the black-and-white episodes. Mainly you'll want this one because the
episodes are fresh and lively, and they possess the joy of watching a
show discover itself."

DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION SEVENTEEN (reviewed by Brett Cullum,
overall score 92/100):
"This may be the set where some Dark Shadows collectors decide to hop
off the train, since now we go forward into the first science fiction
plot -- the Leviathans."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/darkshadows17.php

DOG, THE BOUNTY HUNTER: THE BEST OF SEASON ONE (reviewed by Maurice
Cobbs, overall score 89/100):
"No denizen of Hollywood could possibly have invented Dog. Nobody
currently working in Hollywood is that creative. I mean, c'mon -- a muscle-
bound, tattooed, gun-shy born-again Christian ex-convict biker who now
hunts bail-jumping bad guys with his equally colorful wife and extended
family? In Hawaii, no less? Who could possibly make that up?"

FOREVER KNIGHT: THE TRILOGY, PART 2 (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
score 88/100):
"S an addictive show, as its legions of devoted fans have discovered for
themselves. Humor and drama are balanced well, the mix of cop drama and
vampire fantasy is surprisingly effective, and as the characters
developed over the course of this season I found myself truly caring
about them."

GARFIELD AND FRIENDS: VOLUME 2 (reviewed by Aaron Bossig, overall
score 89/100):
"If Garfield and Friends were simply an animated version of an innocuous
daily newspaper comic, there wouldn't be much to write here. The
creators of the show took what could have been just a generic toon and
crammed it full of recurring characters, guest stars, offbeat ideas, and
jokes that were actually funny."

I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 95/100):
"Making the baby as important as any other ancillary cast member, and
adding the family dynamic to a concept already ripe with wacky
situations, the series actually survived and thrived thanks to this reality-
based revision."

MEN BEHAVING BADLY: SEASONS ONE AND TWO (reviewed by Brett Cullum,
overall score 80/100):
"It's sort of like Sex and the City...if Miranda moved in with Carrie
and they were both slobby men who liked to drink beer in pubs and cared
little about fashion. It's kind of like The Odd Couple but without the
prissy one. It's just a showcase for what it's like when two men share
an apartment. Be afraid. Be very afraid."

NYPD 24/7 (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 82/100):
"Overall, I'd say this series is a mixed bag. Some episodes just didn't
strike me as deserving to be part of the final culmination of a year and
half of filming, but the good stuff far outweighs the ho-hum. These
detectives are crushingly human, can make mistakes, work themselves
silly, risk their lives daily, and, unlike in the fictional world, do
not always solve the case."

PROFILE OF SERIAL KILLER (reviewed by David Gutierrez, overall
score 50/100):
"It's very hard to forgive a bad ending. It's harder to forgive a bad
ending in a movie that makes me like I'm experiencing a bad Nyquil trip
while on Quaaludes."

STARSKY AND HUTCH: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by Sandra Dozier,
overall score 85/100):
"Starsky & Hutch has a golden formula: keep the detectives on the
streets of Bay City where they can hunt down bad guys, make the action
fast and furious, and don't forget to inject some humor into all but the
grimmest of situations."

From the _I Love Lucy_ review:

"Sorry, you fans of the formidable old pea picker, but Season Three features
two of the LAMEST shows I Love Lucy ever attempted. While the use of actual
celebrity guest stars was rare (it would pick up when the show moved to LA
for Ricky's movie career and Europe for an massive world tour), Mr. "16
Tons" himself, Tennessee Ernie, makes an appearance in two of the later
shows this season and, sadly, it's all hayseed and redneck humor. Now, if
you love the farcical Ford, you will die for these rare comedic forays. The
singer uses his thick as strap molasses accent to turn on the cornpone
charm, and he's so over the top and mannered that he makes some of Lucy's
larger than life tics seem subtle. It is just a personal thing with yours
truly, no real salient statement on the series's otherwise stellar
qualities. There is just something about a loud, lunkheaded hillbilly who
looks like an Italian maitre 'd that just rubs this critic the wrong way."

I agree completely with your synopsis of the two Tennessee Ernie Ford
episodes from season three. The sustained awfulness of these two ridiculous
hillbilly skits is nearly unbearable to watch. However, the Cousin Ernie
farce set the stage in the forth season for one of the funniest Lucy
episodes ever made: "Tennessee Bound." Featuring Aaron Spelling and The
Borden Twins sing "Ricochet Romance", this episode

This is probably going to be viewed as heresy by Lucy fans, but I feel that
the only true classic episodes of the show were those which chronicled the
Ricardo's Hollywood adventure. As a result, I will purchase only Season 4
and Season 5, which contain the complete Hollywood trip and a few good
European tour episodes.

But even some of the Hollywood episodes were lame:

The Fashion Show: The whole episode is a setup for Lucy's wearing of a
burlap dress after she gets sunburned. The saving grace is that many wives
of 50s leading men appear.

The Tour: Richard Widmark aims a gun at Lucy, who is hiding under a
bearskin rug.

Lucy and the Dummy: One of the worst episodes ever -- Hollywood or
otherwise.
