"Microsoft's Xbox unit reported its first profit in the fiscal second
quarter because of surging sales of its Halo 2 video game.
Microsoft has not yet specified whether its next-generation Xbox
console will support Sony's Blu-ray high- definition DVD technology.
Rival Toshiba is backing a competing technology known as HD-DVD and
the two camps appear poised for a high-definition format war.
Sony has said its PlayStation3 will support Blu-ray.
Analysts have said that Blu-ray was more likely to become the de facto
standard for high-definition DVDs if Microsoft were to incorporate it
in its new console."
