I have an Akai DVDRW120 recorder. Recently (today) it started doing the
following: It will recognize, format and record programs but when I remove
the disc and put it back in it will not recognize it. It will also not
recognize older discs I have recorded and previously been able to view. I
can play the discs on my computer so I know there is data there. The
machine also WILL play back commercial DVDs. Wassup???? Can it be fixed?
Is it a dirty lense? If it does have to go in for repair it still has the
parts warranty but not labor. Any guess on what the cost might be - given
that I only paid $200 for it? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can
provide.

Boy, this group must really be dead to not get a single response to this
question. At least I got some on another group. Anyway, for your files: I
got a lense cleaner and that seems to have done the trick.
