Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE
MINISERIES, CHARMED: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM:
THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON, DOTTIE GETS SPANKED, FARSCAPE: SEASON 4,
COLLECTION 5, FRIENDS: THE COMPLETE EIGHTH SEASON, GILMORE GIRLS: THE
COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, NIGHT COURT: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, REBA:
THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, REVERSIBLE ERRORS, and STAR TREK: VOYAGER,
SEASON SEVEN:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE MINISERIES (reviewed by Eric Profancik,
overall score 90/100):
"The most striking feature of Battlestar Galactica is that it takes
place in a very dark universe. It's a place filled with despair and
fear. Hope is a commodity now as rare and precious as water. Look at
how America was stunned after the loss of nearly 3,000 lives on 9/11.
Can you even begin to imagine your race practically wiped out in a
matter of minutes, and that you are part of a ragtag fleet of ships
trying to survive?"

CHARMED: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 70/100):
"Paramount has dropped the ball with Charmed -- The Complete First
Season with wretched transfers that could be bested by videotape. And no
extras? No subtitles? This one's been a hot seller in pre-sales, and I
can only imagination the collective sigh of disgust when all the fans
realize that all they're getting are the shows in a grainy mess with
basic stereo."

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (reviewed by David
Johnson, overall score 86/100):
"With a bit of hesitation I dropped the first disc of Season Three into
my DVD player. Would Season One prove to have been a fluke? Or would
Season Two? With joy in my heart, I am pleased to say that this third
season is just as great as the first, and boasts some of the funniest
moments I've ever seen on my television screen."

DOTTIE GETS SPANKED (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 86/100):
"Dottie Gets Spanked feels remarkably in tune with primitive, childlike
drives. It employs the logic of childhood. Watching it, I recall my own
residual fear of innocuous things, misunderstandings spawned in my
developing young brain. If you took the narrator out of A Christmas
Story and made it a little darker, you'd approach the tone taken in
this film."

FARSCAPE: SEASON 4, COLLECTION 5 (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall
score 95/100):
"I think the reasons behind the appeal of Farscape are much simpler,
however. Yes, there are cool spaceships and aliens and nifty weapons
aplenty. There are time/space continuum conundrums and dangerous alien
seductresses and more new life forms and new civilizations than you can
shake a stick at. Still, the appeal of Farscape comes from its attention
to the basics of good television: plot, characters, and dialogue."

FRIENDS: THE COMPLETE EIGHTH SEASON (reviewed by Elizabeth Skipper,
overall score 81/100):
"Some say it happened years ago when Ross and Rachel first got
together or first broke up or got back together or broke up again.
Others will tell you it happened when Chandler and Monica started
their relationship. But I think it happened when Rachel got pregnant
with Ross's baby. Yep, this eighth season is when Friends finally
jumped the shark."

GILMORE GIRLS: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Patrick Bromley,
overall score 91/100):
"I can't say that Gilmore Girls's second season is a marked improvement
over the series's first season, but that's not necessarily a bad thing
-- few shows are able to find their footing in their freshman seasons as
well as Gilmore Girls did. All that the second season had to do, then,
was maintain the standard that had already been set by its previous
outing, which -- I'm happy to report -- it is able to do quite nicely."

NIGHT COURT: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Erick Harper,
overall score 80/100):
"Judge Harry cracks jokes, does magic tricks, and generally approaches
the job of justice in a very unconventional way, but he never slights
the people who come into his courtroom, and he never shortchanges the
overall purpose of the justice system. There is something so
irresistibly likeable about this good, decent person (both character and
actor, by all appearances) that the wacky sitcom hijinks and the
heartfelt 'meaningful' portions of each episode are equally believable."

REBA: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 75/100):
"The problem is, there's nothing outstanding about the series, except
for (maybe) the likeability of the lead. We've seen most of these
situations before, and the comedy is not terribly funny or memorable. If
you're a fan of Reba the set makes sense, but for the non-fan? There
ain't much here."

REVERSIBLE ERRORS (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 85/100):
"I was a bit surprised to find myself so thoroughly engrossed in this
adaptation. I pretty much knew what to expect, but this miniseries is so
skillfully written and acted that my familiarity with the twists and
turns in the story didn't matter."

STAR TREK: VOYAGER, SEASON SEVEN (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall
score 88/100):
"Science fiction comes in many shapes and sizes and we all enjoy
different things. Many of us still delight in traipsing through Gene
Roddenberry's playground, filled with its optimistic interpretation of
humanity. Others may prefer a dark and dreary vision, and I don't mind
that myself at times. But given a choice, nine times out of ten I'm
going to pick Star Trek. There's so much to choose from that you can
find an episode to suit just about any mood you may be in."
