Default maxell? good to buy? or get another brand?

I bought a bunch of Maxell brand dvdram discs. Are they generally a good
brand? I have 12 of them now (bought a ten pack and one came with each of
my burners). one of the ones that came with my burner is defective. it
records the whole show but only lets you see the first 15 minutes of so and
then fails to read the rest. this is the second time it happened with this
disc. I am not sure what is wrong but I will not use it again. this is the
first time I had a problem with any discs. is it the brand or just one bad
disc? will maxell exchange this disc for a new one? what is the best dvdram
brand to buy? thanks.
