For some bizarre reason, my sister bought me a Sony gift certificate
for a free dvd for xmas (i suppose an amazon gift cert would be too sensible). Ok, so i can't just go to a store and redeem it for a Sony/Columbia dvd (that too would be too sensible). Instead, i have to go onto their website and look at a limited selection of dvds that i can get. Bleh. Ok, so i finally settle on TO SIR WITH LOVE. So 4-6 weeks delivery time! ugh. Now, today i get it. AND? it's a rattler!!!! i can hear that the dvd is loose inside. WTF?! I don't even know who to call or where to send it to get a replacement! i are ****ed. goddamb Sony (it's not the frist time i've said that, either). -goro- Ed Kim |

Your sister probably got the coupon free with some other piece of Sony merchandise that she bought for herself. Joshua Zyber |

Yes, I got a DVD through Barnes & Noble online and it too was a rattler. When I opened it and looked at the DVD it was indeed scratched all over. The clip that held the DVD in place in the case was broken. Needless to say, I returned it for an exchange. Patty Patty |

Take it to WalMart, tell them you got it as a gift, the disc was loose
and you'd like to exchange it for the same title. They shouldn't give you any trouble AND if you're really nice and they don't stock "To Sir, With Love" they may even let you swap it for something else. - Jordan Jordan |

And just try to get the seller or the manufacturer to replace it!! It is almost impossible. Mail order places really suck at this. I ordered one about 3 weeks ago from Amazon.com and it was all scratched up. I tried contacting them by email and it took over a week to get an answer. When they did answer, they told me that, if the wrapper was unopened, they would replace it, but if it was opened, there was a no return, no refund policy. I have learned to shake the box to see if it rattles and, if it does, I will go ahead and return it. However, I had a DVD that was loose and scratched and it didn't "rattle". Luckily, I bought it from WalMart and they exchanged it for the same title. Someone needs to come up with a better design for a case to hold a DVD. Someone in this thread says that "DVDs are not that fragile." BULL ****!! They scratch very easily and I've even gotten a DVD that was cracked all the way from the spindle hole to the edge one time in shipment!! Interestingly, I used to buy VHS tapes all the time through the mail (probably over a thousand) and NEVER had one damaged in the mail. MarMac MarMac1 |

I called their 800# listed on my receipt and the representative I spoke with was very helpful. She also mailed me a postage paid label to return the damaged DVD. Can't have asked for better service. I'll order from them again that's for sure. Patty Patty |

If it plays error-free, it shouldn't even be an issue. Who cares if you can see a few nicks on the disc. This isn't a beauty pageant. -- "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we.
