Does anybody know of a source for the post-nuclear holocaust movie
"Glen and Randa" from around 1971? (It should not be the similarly named "Glen or Glenda" because *that* one deals with sexual confusion experienced by some kind of a transgenderized-person, while *this* one deals with a bunch of countryfolk struggling to survive after a thermo- nuclear war.) This post-nuclear holocaust movie is supposedly about this band of semi- nude hippies wandering around in Idaho seeking some kind of a mythical ocean where there might be an endlessly bountiful source of water. So, this is kind of like the opposite of "Waterworld" with very little budget to go on. For instance, there is supposed to be a shot of a tree growing up through a car surrounded by weeds and brush and stuff. The semi-nude (?) heroine is a pregnant woman, and her boyfriend scrambles around for bugs and insects from local mudpuddles to scarf down, while she chomps away on sparse clumps of grass like a horse, as food is so hard to come by. (?) They stumble across a a cult that chants "Time is on my Side" - the old Rolling Stones' standard, but they learned the song from playing a vinyl record with that song on it, but because their batteries are so weak, they play the record at 3/4 speed, producing a strange, distorted hymnal that is supposed to sound like a funeral dirge. Now, there's also supposed to be some cheap makeup effects for the mutants they run into as they trek across Idaho. (?) But since I have never actually seen this movie, I'm very curious about it. I've been warned that the movie looks a lot like a bunch of crazy naked hippies tripping around in the desert, but surely there's GOT to be more to the movie than that. Director Jim McBride is the genius behind this strange, strange movie. Does anybody know of a source to this movie on DVD? For what it's worth, I checked http://www.imdb.com and http://www.amazon.com but it appears they don't have it, and aren't getting a copy any time soon. Nevertheless, maybe someone else out there does? If possible, I'd like a source in the United States. Matthew Montchalin |

It is just as bad as it has been described. I had to sit through it in a
theater because one person in our group of six thought it was "pretty cool" and he owned the car we all took. You can avoid it though -- Just one of many ways in which your life could be better than mine. -- http://www.chapelhillnoir.com home of The Camera-ist's Manifesto The Improved Links Pages are at http://www.chapelhillnoir.com/links/mlinks00.html A sample chapter from "Haight-Ashbury" is at http://www.chapelhillnoir.com/writ/hait/hatitl.html "Matthew Montchalin" <> wrote in message news > Does anybody know of a source for the post-nuclear holocaust movie > "Glen and Randa" from around 1971?
