strange malfunction

for the third time my dvd recorder, a jvc brand dvd/vcr combo, has decided
not to record the channel that was set on the program list. it has instead
recorded the channel that it was last on before being turned off to timer
record mode. anyone have any ideas about this? I plan to contact the jvc
people tomorrow when they are open again but for now I was hoping someone
knew what's going on. thanks
