Are the HardDisk DVD Recorders better for tv show recording/playback ?

Yes, around twice the price. My Toshiba can record at 38 different bitrates from 1.4 to 9.2Gb/s, which equates to 1 to 6 hours on a DVD or 18 to 106 hours on the 80G hard disc. It records on DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM. But the biggest advantage to a hard disc is that I able to record to the hard disc, then delete any unwanted segments, place chapter marks, organize as titles, reduce bit rates, and only then commit it to DVD-R. Well worth the additional cost for me as I have converted many, many hours of irreplaceable camcorder video to DVD-R. David E. Bath |
