Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ANNIE: A ROYAL ADVENTURE!, CARNIVAL
OF SOULS (COLORIZED), A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1951): SPECIAL DELUXE EDITION,
FULL CLIP, HARLEM RENAISSANCE, INSTANT BELLY DANCER: A CRASH COURSE IN
BELLYDANCE, VOL.1 AND VOL. 2, MALIBU EYES, PAST MIDNIGHT, THE SKULLS:
NIGHT OF THE LIVING SKULLS, and TIPTOES:

ANNIE: A ROYAL ADVENTURE! (reviewed by Maurice Cobbs, overall
score 75/100):
"Can Annie and her friends thwart these evildoers? How does the
beautiful and mysterious Lady Hogbottom (Joan Collins, Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) fit into all this? And will little
Molly's head explode from sheer, unbelievable cuteness?"

CARNIVAL OF SOULS (COLORIZED) (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 68/100):
"Despite the reservations I instinctively cleave to, the results of the
colorization are artful in many cases. Some of the twilight scenes have
a rich blood-red hue that seems to work, and every now and then I
marveled at what they had accomplished. With a little (ahem) chemical
help this could be a psychedelic masterpiece of cinema."

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1951): SPECIAL DELUXE EDITION (reviewed by Paul
Corupe, overall score 77/100):
"Although 1951's A Christmas Carol takes a few liberties with Dickens's
original text, it's easy to see why this version has endeared itself to
so many over the years with above-average performances, a sharp visual
identity, and an ability to maintain a cheery holiday disposition even
in scenes which have Scrooge at his most vicious."

FULL CLIP (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"Hmm, an urban action movie with lots of guns and throbbing hip-hop
music, starring two rappers. This is new."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fullclip.php

HARLEM RENAISSANCE (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall score 75/100):
"I suspect that this documentary was designed for middle schoolers who
do not know the Count from the Duke or Dizzy from Satchmo."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/harlemrenaissance.php

INSTANT BELLY DANCER: A CRASH COURSE IN BELLYDANCE, VOL.1 AND VOL. 2
(reviewed by Lacey Worrell, overall score 60/100):
"Neon raises the level of difficulty by performing these moves wearing
high heels and tight satin pants. I had enough trouble trying to
replicate the steps wearing pajama bottoms and bunny slippers, so I'm
guessing I'm not ready for the disco quite yet."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/in...rvols1and2.php

MALIBU EYES (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 76/100):
"In many ways, viewing independent films like Malibu Eyes returns us to
an older and superior form of movie watching."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/malibueyes.php

PAST MIDNIGHT (reviewed by Lacey Worrell, overall score 27/100):
"The only time you should watch Past Midnight is past midnight, when
your local network runs it against the infomercial where Erik Estrada
implores people to purchase cheap swampland in Florida."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pastmidnight.php

THE SKULLS: NIGHT OF THE LIVING SKULLS (reviewed by Adam Arseneau,
overall score 63/100):
"The Skulls' singer, Billy Bones, seems to be taking his un-retirement
with great stride, and has a great taunting, sneering aged punk rock
frontman presence, looking like Billy Idol but moving and acting like
Ozzy Osborne in that half-crazed, half-tired sort of way."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/nightlivingskulls.php

TIPTOES (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall score 61/100):
"When a movie boasts a cast of familiar names like Matthew McConaughey,
Kate Beckinsale, and Gary Oldman, but you've never heard of it, and it
didn't get a theatrical release, does that necessarily mean it's bad?
Maybe not...but in the case of Tiptoes, it's a pretty sure bet."
