Hawayein- dvd with English subtitles

A fairly decent movie made by Sardarjis about the 1984 riots
when 3,000 Sikhs were killed in retaliation for the murder of Indira
Gandhi and when some celebrated with fire crackers and sweets.
The only objectionale thing I found was that of a Hindu
religious figure leading the riots . The truth is that fundamentalists
who consider Sikhs to be the sword arm of Hinduism protected the Sikhs
at the cost of their lives while it was the Congress goods and slum
Islamists who killed the Sikhs . In the better off areas Sikhs were
not touched , in the movie that is not obvious.
It follows the Bollywood formula of hit songs , great costumes
and good dialog and has great scenes of Punjab and is in Hindi and is
well worth watching .
