Shreds of the likley senerio (not proof) are all over the web including the site mentioned below...as well as a logical outcome of the disterous war. And this seneraio make it into the mainstream press occasionally by the Chicago Sun Times Is Military Draft in the Works? by Andrew Greeley There's a sign on the horizon, no bigger than a man's hand, that there's a military draft in the works. The Defense Department has announced that Selective Service is making preparations for another draft, "in case one is needed." The New York Times in an inane editorial pleads with the president to articulate a goal for the war that if it "was clear and comprehensive and people understood how to reach it, then Mr. Bush could . . .. even bolster the desperately straitened military with a draft if Americans understood the need to sacrifice." ...' By now, it should be all over for George W Bush. America gets attacked on 9/11, so he starts a war on false premises in an unrelated country that barely poses a threat to US security. In the wake, nearly 1000 Americans lose their lives, many thousands more are maimed for life and tens of thousands of other people are killed. The war costs $US200 billion, seriously damages American credibility all around the world, and turns the US into the prime target for Third World resentments for generations to come. So waddaya do? You re-hire the guy, for another four years. It's not as if the Bush domestic track record is any better. Thanks to his programme of tax cuts, Bush has turned the surplus he inherited into a huge deficit that will plague Americans for decades. A million fewer Americans will be in jobs at the end of his first term than when he took office. Some of his administration's closest corporate associates - Enron, Halliburton - have become bywords for greed and corruption. "luminos" <> wrote in message news:... > alt.video.dvd > > Goodbye, I hope with all my being. Bye and a final word: Everybody talks about mercy, But they don't know the meaning of the word. Mose Allison Fallujah is an Iraqi Beslan. The only difference is that the cameras aren't rolling. The city of 500,000 is being held hostage by an American leadership who doesn't mind shedding the blood of innocent civilians to achieve their broader political goals. That is the very definition of terrorism. Since, the Marines were rebuffed last April in a three week siege that killed an estimated 650 Iraqis, the military has repeatedly bombed sections of Falluja using the spurious claim of targeting terrorist "safe houses." Every incident involved the wanton destruction of personal property and the loss of innocent life. These attacks are part of larger "psy-ops" (psychological operation) strategy that requires the long-term terrorizing of the population to make them more compliant to American wishes. Certainly, the Chechen rebels should be taking notes if they want to truly grasp the subtleties of a well-managed terrorist procedure. If terrorism is not recorded on video, it doesn't exist. This is the "great lesson" that the Dept of Defense gleaned from our involvement in Vietnam. Nothing was learned about the moral depravity of killing 3 million people and poisoning their land in a blatant act of aggression. No, the lesson of Vietnam was simply to keep the killing and maiming off American TVs. As a result, Iraq has become a war on information every bit as much as a war for vital resources. The reporting has been so meticulously sanitized that it bears no resemblance to the real horror we are unleashing against a defenseless civilian population. It should surprise no one that Al Jazeera was expelled from Iraq. Their coverage has been a major departure from the Pentagon narrative that fills the pages of the New York Times and Washington Post. Rather than provide apologetics for the hostilities, they have focused their gaze on the suffering of normal people; people living without power or clean water, people dealing with the daily struggle of living in a war zone, people digging their family members out of the ruins of a smoldering building. This level of truth is anathema to the objectives of the empire. As Beslan proves, it is impossible to carry on a campaign of terror under the scrutiny of a camera lens. Besides, America doesn't perpetrate terrorism. Our efforts in Iraq are purely altruistic. We have come to "liberate"; to bring democracy to unwashed natives of a primitive third world backwater and remove the scourge of WMD from a crazed tyrant. Nonsense. The fear that engulfed Beslan, now cuts a wide swath through Iraq enveloping everyone within its vice-like grip. Falluja is just the most recent chapter in this campaign of terror. www.counterpunch.org > > > > "Jasmine" <> wrote in message > news:ci5tqp$av1$... > > > > "luminos" <> wrote in message > > news:... > >> OK. On Tue, 14 Sep 2004 09:29:11 +1200, during a voyage through the cold
waters of alt.punk, i happened upon the crew of "Jasmine" <>: <snip> I came across the cutest cat named Jasmine earlier today. She's a bit of a beast at 16 pounds but it's entirely excusable enough when the purring starts. Even cuter yet is a peculiar trait in her where if you pet towards her tail she compulsively licks her front legs without any restraint. Without fail and every time she uncontrollably licks her legs; the more aggressively you pet the more aggressively she licks. It's amazing, but it's a short lived delight. Soon enough her tail begins swishing back and forth before she finally bites back! And it isn't any old bite -she snaps hard. The ghost of a snapper turtle surely has taken up residence in this furry bungalow of a cat. Any pain is quickly forgotten when you see the onery glare on her soft face. -- best regards, mat np: siberia - were gonna party like its I WILL round this Cape even if I have to keep sailing until doomsday! the flying dutchman |

"luminos" <> wrote in message news:... > I strongly suggest that you find another country to live in. One without > any of the problems you see, or imagine. Hey luminos, you Looney conman we are going to civilize the US...and we will try to make room for you. By now, it should be all over for George W Bush. Yes, by normal standards of accountability, Bush should be toast by now. Yet, at this point, only two months from election day - and Bush is looking like a near certainty for re-election. The polls have him pulling ahead in swing states such as Florida, and leaping out in Time and Newsweek polls to a 52-41 lead nationwide over his Democratic challenger John Kerry. And what is giving Bush his current winning edge? The issue of national security, and his perceived credibility as the commander in chief. That's right. The guy who used his family's political connections to shirk his national service during the Vietnam war is being seen as more credible than the guy who got wounded in action, and who was decorated for his courage and leadership under fire in Vietnam. Somehow, the issue that has dominated the media campaign coverage during the last few weeks has been whether Kerry had or hadn't crossed the border into Cambodia during a secret mission 30 years ago, and had or hadn't come under fire in the process. This is worrying, and not simply for Americans. As Slate magazine's William Saletan said in his coverage of the recent Republican convention in New York, any criticism of the Bush presidency is now being held to be (a) unpatriotic and (b) effeminate. During his convention speech, Arnold Schwarzenegger railed against the "girlie-men" economists who dared to voice misgivings about the Bush record of economic management. In this climate of intimidation, the welfare of Bush is being equated with the welfare of the nation. The stubborn fixations that landed the US in the current mess in Iraq are being recast as the bulldog tenacity that the country needs in its time of crisis. I hear Bora Bora is nice. Bye > Bye. > > Jasmine |

If my son were, I'd advise him to do exactly the same thing. To make a nice point I could get the suckee to wear a GW Bush mask and a t-shirt that says "CHICKEN HAWK" Heck, maybe make the photo into a t-shirt transfer and wear it into the draft office.
