Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of AND THE SHADOWS FLEE AWAY, BIRDY
THE MIGHTY: FINAL FORCE (VOLUME 2), BOA VS. PYTHON, JIM BROWN: ALL-
AMERICAN, MAGICAL PLAY, MEGAZONE 23: PART ONE, and MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM
SEED: GRIM REALITY (VOLUME 1):
AND THE SHADOWS FLEE AWAY (reviewed by Aaron Bossig, overall
score 70/100):
"Yes, it's interesting. Yes, it's mysterious. And yes, it's supposedly
true, which is what makes it interesting and mysterious. It is not,
however, a movie."

BIRDY THE MIGHTY: FINAL FORCE (VOLUME 2) (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway,
overall score 45/100):
"What we have here is a pointless story, a whiny hero, a heroine with
dubious powers, and villains who don't seem to do anything."

BOA VS. PYTHON (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 70/100):
"For a movie proclaiming hot snake-on-snake action, Boa vs. Python sadly
lacked the requisite brawling. In fact, the two don't square off until,
literally, the last ten minutes of the movie. I'm sorry, but I require
significantly more reptilian violence than what I got in a film
flaunting two dastardly snake combatants."

JIM BROWN: ALL-AMERICAN (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score 76/100):
"This lengthy biopic of Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown is one of
acclaimed director Spike Lee's more recent joints, an interesting but
flawed documentary that dispels Brown's tough public persona by focusing
on his considerable contributions to the African-American community."

MAGICAL PLAY (reviewed by Sandra Dozier, overall score 65/100):
"Among the things that didn't work for me, Padudu's mistreatment of her
fish costume is a standout -- I'm sure this was meant to be funny, but I
became physically ill every time she tore a chunk of flesh from his body
to eat ('Meet my friend Uokichi -- he's a fish, and very tasty!'), left
him out in the hot sun while she played in the water, negligently put
him too close to the fire so he slowly cooked, and so on. "

MEGAZONE 23: PART ONE (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall
score 80/100):
"It's no secret the Wachowski Brothers culled from numerous influences
for The Matrix, and I think we just stumbled across a big one."

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED: GRIM REALITY (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Mitchell
Hattaway, overall score 92/100):
"The plot doesn't exactly expand the giant mecha genre, and the
characters are familiar anime archetypes, but the story's breakneck pace
and the nicely detailed animation drew me in so quickly I soon found
myself wrapped up in the proceedings."
