Could someone give me a reference to a website, or even a listing off the
top of their head, of modern movies (colour) that are set in the 1920's? My interest is in the styles of clothing that explorers or archeologists would have worn. Would they have differed much compared to 1930's clothes? A very good example of 1930's style would be from the Indiana Jones series. Thank you. fwelve |

If my project were to costume a movie about explorers in the 1920s,
I'd hardly learn about the period by watching the Great Gatsby. None of the movies listed will give you a good idea of what explorers wore in the 1920s, unless you're wondering what they'd wear socially to a high-society party in Hollywood or West Egg. If you're interested in period costume, there are numerous books out there--explorers did write about their expeditions, and their books often come with pictures of them posing at their sites, or looking manfully brave on a raft, etc., etc. Go to the local university library. You're quite right. I've been wondering when someone would speak up. I thought maybe Frank Buck would qualify but alas his bring-'em-back-alive films are all from the 30s. Of course, we could all sing a chorus or two of "Hooray for Captain Spaulding". _Animal Crackers_ was released in 1930, but it's a late 20s, pre-Crash artifact for all that. Or if the question includes the furrier sort of expedition outfits, there's _Nanook of the North_. -- Frank in Seattle ___________ Frank Richard Aloysius Jude Maloney "I leave you now in radiant contentment" -- "Whistling in the Dark" Frank R.A.J.
