A legitimate business company in my area has commercially released their first
DVD of an episode of their tv series.

that's what they said. However, upon further reading, it is actually a
commercially released "DVD-R".

and no, it is NOT a pirate. The company commercially releasing this "DVD-R" is
the official copyright owner. and the disc is mastered "from the original
studio masters"

which puts a big huge monkey wrench into all the posters statements that "ALL
legitimate tv shows on DVD-R are pirated copies" and "Otherwise, they would be
on DVD instead of on DVD-R".

so there you have it. An official commercially released "DVD-R" mastered from
the original studio masters and being commercially released on DVD-R by the
original copyright owner and NOT pirated.

In Toronto some non-commercial films are offered on DVD-r. Of course
legtimate material is distributed to the public on DVDr. Anything
less than 1000 or 3000 discs is not economically advantageous for the
use of a pressing house.
