Thanks, Colon, for your help. I got it to work.

However, my bare bones PC DVD player does not *have* a "FM", that's why I
posted the question to begin with. I'm lousy with technology, but I am most
excellent with acronyms. FOAD.

You know, not all PC DVD players can capture a still image. The one that
came with my laptop can't. He asked a fair question.

The player that came with my laptop is Intervideo WinDVD v3.0. There's
nothing in the docs about being able to do a screen grab.

Screen shots in WinDVD keyboard shortcut P
Screen shots in PowerDVD kb shortcut C

or vice versa

been that way since the beginning of time, at least since the softwares were
originally released...

and those shortcuts are listed in the help files for both programs.

Some users may need to turn off hardware acceleration in the advanced video
config for the player software.

I appreciate the tip, but I just double checked, and it isn't in the
help file that came with the software. There are a lot of keyboard
shortcuts listed, but not "p". But I'll give it a try.
