i never said dvd-a had anything to do with movies. what i said was, one
could rip audio out of a dvd movie disc and burn it back down onto a dvd in
dvd-a format.

if you read the complete list of postings you would have read that my TL has
a dvd-a player.

what's your point because i can't find what your point is other than you
don't know how to get audio from a dvd movie down onto a dvd-a disc.

Since your source material is not hi-res studio masters specifically
engineered to be used on a DVD-A release, then what you will have is audio
on a DVD-audio disk that is not DVD-Audio quality. Do you understand yet?

i never said i wanted 5.1 DTS quality (which i could get using some of my
multitrack audio editors that can write down into 5.1 PCM. all i want to do
is put 6 cda discs onto 1 dvd-a disc so i can have 36 albums in my 6-cd
changer.

what do you mean by "specifically engineered"?? do you mean 5.1 PCM or 5.1
DTS encoded at 48KhzKhz/24bit or 192Khz/24bit stereo ?

My point is CLEARLY stated!

DVD-Audio is a SEPARATE FORMAT!
It is a MUSIC format!
It has NOTHING to do with movies.
NO MOVIE ON DVD HAS EVER HAD A DVD-AUDIO SOUNDTRACK!

Open up that thick skull of yours.

Go buy a DVD-Audio disc and try it in your car!

: thanks, i have a few already. what's your point. are you talking about
the
: 5.1 DTS that comes from it ??

==============================
DVD-Audio is NOT DTS!
DVD-Audio is not MOVIES!
DVD-AUDIO IS DVD-AUDIO!
==============================
:
: my dvd-a player in my TL can play 5.1 PCM as well as bit stream
encoded 5.1

do
: not mean PCM or DTS data tracks.
:
: not sure what your asking.

=============================
I think is may be best to give up.

You refuse to understand that DVD-AUDIO is different from ANYTHING you
have mentioned.

good luck in your dvd-a ventures (sounds like you wont be doing much with
dvd-a anytime soon), i'm moving onto ripping soundtracks from dvd movies (in
5.1), copying my cd collection, and authoring my own 5.1 audio and burning
them all to dvd-a disc.

Without MLP lossless compression they won't be DVD-Audio.

Are you maybe trying to say that you are trying to make an Audio DVD and NOT
a DVD-Audio? In other words, just a DVD with standard audio files on it that
can be played like a huge CD?

What they're trying to tell you (not very well, IMO) is that you can't burn
a DVD Audio disc at all. There aren't burners on the market to do this yet
(because DVD-A is entirely different in format from current standard DVD
recordable discs, and requires a different kind of disc and burner).
