After reading about this movie on the 'Net I was happy as a clam to see it on
the Starz! Action Channel last night, and boy am I glad I didn't spend any money (past my monthly bill) to see it. The movie starts with stock footage from "Starship Troopers" and even has a "Want To Know More?" prompt like the first movie, but that's about where the similarity ends. During a fire-fight on a non-descript planet (executed by lots of fog and close-ups of the actors to keep you from seeing that there really IS no set around them of any kind) and more stock footage of bugs being shot up from the first movie, about a handful of Federation "soldiers" are split off from their patrol and hold up in a grain silo- looking "base". This is where it essentially turns into "Alien Meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers", with bugs (small ones) crawling into people and controlling them. It gets gorey and nasty, and then it ends. Oh, and you never ever care one iota. The helmets don't fit, the uniforms look cheap, the guns are obviously fake... it's as if this was a fan-made sequel you'd see on a webpage for download. It has everything but the Star Wars Kid. I see that this is coming to DVD on June 1st, avoid it like the Plague... there's nothing redeaming about it, and I LIVE for crappy movies so that's saying a lot. Peas. Wade365 |

A much better sequel is the animated Starship Troopers: Roughnecks. It's a little weak at the begining, but the later episodes are pretty gritty. Mark Spatny |

The series can get a bit 'kiddie' at times and others it can slow to a crawl but on the whole it's more true to the source. I watched part of "Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation" again last night and wow is it bad... I thought I might just have been tired and therefor overly harsh... but it truly IS a pile of crap. A recent interview I read about the film, everyone involved was so happy with he results. Having to be a promotional tool for such a schlock film must make you feel unclean! Wade365 |

Do you happen to know if they included the unproduced scripts as extras on the DVDs? I'd love to know how the series was supposed to wrap up, and there were only a handful of episodes left. The scripts must exist somewhere. Mark Spatny |

There was some rumor of the show being finished Direct-To-Video due to the decent sales of the series on DVD and fan's request... seems a bit far-fetched, but it happened for "The Family Guy".
