Video Extraction Question

I was wondering if anyone knew of a easy to use program that will
allow me to extract a segment of video from a avi file. I currently
use Videostudio 7, but lately it has been hanging up while trying to
extract certain segments of video. Can anyone tell me of a easy to
use, and ideally free program that will allow me to do this. Thanks
for any information you can send my way.
