Here's something to argue about: What story is found on the most DVDs
in distinct versions? I would vote for The Hound of the Baskervilles, of which I have six versions: Rathbone/Bruce/Greene, 1934 Cushing/Morell/Lee, 1959 Richardson/Churchill/Shaw, 1983 Brett/Hardwicke/Tabori, 1984 (in The Sherlock Holmes Feature Film Collection) Roxburgh/Hart/Day, 2002 Frewer/Welsh/London, 2003 (in The Sherlock Holmes Collection, Artisan) Second place to Les Liasons Dangereuses: Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Moreau/Philippe, 1959 Dangerous Liaisons, Close/Malkovich, 1988 Valmont, Bening/Firth, 1989 Cruel Intentions, Gellar/Phillippe, 1999 Les Liaison Dangereuses, Deneuve/Everett, 2003 Then there's Little Women in at least three versions; probably a bunch of more and less faithful Jekyll/Hydes; and oh yeah, the classic horror stuff, Frankenstein and Dracula particularly, though one needs to be careful about which are adaptations of the original work and which are sequels (different stories altogether). karlpov |
