Styx - Return to Paradise audio question

A buddy has the Styx - Return to Paradise dvd and we both are
experiencing a missing centre channel audio track. We both own Pioneer
7.1 receivers set up for 5.1. I have a Pioneer dvd player, he has a
Panasonic player.

It is advertised as 5.1 audio. We hear the centre channel in the menu,
but it's totally quiet during the concert itself on both our systems.
Both our centre channels work for any other 5.1 dvd.

Has anyone else noticed this missing centre channel track?

When playing it on the stereo audio track, it comes up as Prologic on
the displays and we can then hear it coming through the centre channel
speaker as well.

Weird huh.

Johnnyboy, says...

No. It sounds like it was mixed that way deliberately to give you better
stereo seperation, and make it more of a 'live" sound. Whereas, sound
from the center speaker would be kind of dull. The center speaker is
best used for dialog in a film, so the voices sound more like they are
coming from the actors you see on the screen. In music, that isn't
neccessarily a desirable characteristic.

Thanx. That does make sense. I just can't recall running into that on
any of the other music dvd's I have. I'll have to put them all in and
have a listen.
