Default Video Standards Converter

Group:

Slightly off-topic, but possibly of interest to the group.

I've recently moved from the UK to the US. I've about 100 or so VCR tapes
in PAL format that I'd like to be able to play.

I've got my UK (i.e. PAL) VCR tapes playing successfully via a PAL VCR (with
transformer!) outputting to a PAL TV card in my PC.

What I'd like to do is to send the output of the PAL VCR to my NTSC TV. I
know that there's a standards conversion issue here, and I suspect that a
quality solution is expensive.

As I've only got 100 or so tapes, and I won't be buying more (and some will
be replaced over time with DVD's), and given that the source is tape and so
the output won't be brilliant anyway, I'm looking for a relatively
inexpensive solution.

I assume that VCR's with a built in video standards converter will be more
expensive than a stand-alone video standards converter?

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a video standards converter?

TIA

Den

You might try the ones shown at this link:

I have the CMD-850 and like it a lot, although it isn't cheap.
