Any software that tells me the details (region code, video format (NTSC PAL
progressive, interlaced etc)?

Thanks.

Which part of ifoedit does that? It seems to be a fairly
complicated/sophisticated software ...

when you open ifoedit, you then hit open ifo and have it point to the
VIDEO_TS.ifo file of the movie you want to know about. Once it is open look on
the top window and you will see a line called "VMGM_MAT (its the first choice),
click it once and right on the bottom screen it tells what region it is. If it
is region free it will list a few regions

also if you go out of that and when you load the genral video_ts.ifo scroll
down and it tells you about the play items for that dvd where it would give
most of the info you want to know.

Their are hunrededs of guides as well on dvdrhelp.com to help you out
