DVD to MPG on a PC?

I'm trying to find out if there are any good freeware/shareware
applications out there for ripping video segments from a DVD
to an MPG file on a Windows XP PC.

Anyone know of any good freeware/shareware applications for
doing this? Or maybe a Web site that has information on how to
do this?
