they are both excellent. i cant find a receiver that does dts that won't do
dolby. hmm...maybe its cuz dolby is mandated by the dvd forum to be present in american dvds.... yes, so... as to buying dvd discs, if they have dts it is almost certainly worth the extra few dollars for that, but dolby isn't too bad itself.... maximum bitrate 5.1 uses (not the actual limit; just the limit that companies produce dvds with) is 448kbps. dts works with either 768kbps (common) or 1.536mbps (havent seen one yet, though; this is twice as much as 768kbps). Clearly you see that this takes up extraaa space on the dvd disc. generally, though, it is no problem, because companies don't fill the disc to the brim so there is going to be enough space left on a dolby-only dvd to add in a dts track, and still keep all the extras and the dolby and stuff.... > DTS or DD5,1 ? You know, I have both and it seems to me that DTS is louder. Not that there's any real difference, it's just louder. Now my set does DD 6.1 and there's a big difference between that and DTS. - Jordan Jordan Lund |
