Default DVD player with audiophile CD sound

I recently got the Panasonic RP91 DVD player - it has superb sound, but poor
CD-R error correction (also - very exasperating - it does not tell you time
left on a DVD, only time elapsed.) I am looking for a recommendation for a
$500 DVD player that:

1) has audiophile sound quality as a CD player;

2) good error correction (mainly on CD-R's)

Thanks

Noam

All who tag themselves as 'audiophiles' need to be take out and given a good
beating. Wankers....

Look into one of the new Pioneer players that does DVD-A and SACD as well.

Look for anything that costs over $800. That should make you feel like you
got a better sounding CD player.

You need one of those green pens that you can use to draw round the edge of
the disc. I saw it in an 'audiophile' catalogue along with a load of other
expensive stuff.

Other things to watch for is the addition of concrete to the unit
for that "solid sound", and a few tubes to ensure there isn't that
"harsh sound" that comes with solid state devices.

Although I do not subscribe to almost all of the audiophile superstitions,
there is a difference between solid state and tube equipment since
the transient response of tubes is slow compared to solid state, thereby
smoothing impulse signals.

Also valves have even order harmonic distortion instead of odd order
harmonic distortion. Easier on the ears.

But what do you mean by 'superstitions'? Such as?

That would take an essay, GraB....don't have the time to write one. Just as
a teaser, I keep finding statements about
equipment supra 20Khz response...nonsense!
