New Releases: More Universal 2 pack, 21 Grams, Honey: Updated complete downloadable R1 DVD DB & info lists

Universal's rep kept me busy with a good number of release announcements.
First, there is the return of the two pack box sets. Some are just straight
reissues of some of the plethora of sets that hit the shelves in December,
the only discernable different is the price was dropped from $32.98 to
$26.98, even the UPCs remained the same. Other sets appear to be new
packages complete with unique UPC numbers. Among these are Rock Hudson And
Doris Day Romance 2 Pack (Pillow Talk / Lover Come Back) set for release on
April 6th. On April 27th we get Sinbad: Legend Of The Seven Seas / Spirit:
Stallion Of The Cimarron 2 Pack, Mummy / Mummy Returns 2 Pack, Notting Hill
/ About A Boy 2 Pack, Bruce Almighty / Liar Liar 2 Pack, Bring It On / Bring
It On Again 2 Pack and Seabiscuit / A Beautiful Mind 2 Pack. Also on that
date are two more American Pie packaging ploys; American Wedding
(Rated)/National Lampoon's Animal House (Rated / Back to Back) and American
Wedding (Unrated)/National Lampoon's Animal House (Unrated / Back to Back).
It looks like they may start up with the side by side and back to back sets,
each with unique UPC numbers. Again, all sets are listed for a retail price
of $26.98.

Universal will release the Jessica Alba flick, Honey on March 23rd. There
will be separate P&S and widescreen releases on that date. Both will feature
Dolby 5.1 audio. The announced extras include; The Inside Scoop: Feature
Commentary with Jessica Alba and Director Bille Woodruff,
Behind The Groove: The Making Of Honey, Make Your Move: Dance Like Honey!,
In the Mix With Blaque: Go Behind the Scenes with Blaque's Music Video,
Deleted Scenes, Outtakes, Blaque "I'm Good" Music Video, Exclusive Music
Videos From Honey, Cast and Filmmakers Bios. The list price is $26.98.

The latest Naomi Watts film, 21 Grams, will be released by Universal on
March 16th. Initial technical specifications have Dolby 5.1/DTS for the
audio and anamorphic video. The stated extras includes a featurette entitled
'21 Grams: In Fragments'. The list price is $26.98.

For fans of older films Universal will release Same Time, Next Year, Love
Come Back, Lorenzo's Oil, Gable And Lombard and 30 Years To Life on April
6th. The early spec sheet indicates anamorphic widescreen for most with what
looks like Dolby Surround audio. The cost will be $!4.98 per disc.

From Columbia/TriStar, Jersey Girl (1992), the Jamie Gertz flick, not the
Jennifer Lopez one, Man Called Sledge and Something's Gotta Give (2003) all
on March 30th. Most look to be anamorphic.

For the kids Columbia has, also on March 30th; Swan Princess (Special
Edition), Swan Princess: Mystery Of the Enchanted Treasure - Special Edition
for $19.95 or the boxed set Swan Princess / Swan Princess: Mystery Of The
Enchanted Treasure 2 Pack for $29.95.

Columbia lists Panic Room (Special Edition) for release on March 30th for
$39.95. The audio and video looks to be much like the previous Superbit set,
Dolby 5.1/DTS, anamorphic video, with same extras on the second disc. There
was no mention of this being part of the Superbit line.

Columbia has Sanford And Son: The Complete 4th Season due out on March 30th
for a list price of $29.95.

A few television series sets are coming out from A&E Home Video. Included
for the March 30th release date are Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: Complete 3rd
Season (including a cast commentary for one double episode), list price is
$119.95. Homicide: Life On The Street: Season 4 will be released with a
suggested price of $99.95. Announced extras include Interview With Barry
Levinson, Tom Fontana, Henry Bromell, David Simon, and James Yoshimura,
Commentary With Clark Johnson and Writer Anya Epstein on "The Hat", Song
Listing, Cast and Crew Biographies. Finally, Mr. Bean: The Animated Series
DVD Set # 2, Mr. Bean: The Animated Series - Whatever Will Bean, Will Bean
and Mr. Bean: The Animated Series - It's All Bean To Me.

Pioneer has some music three packs set for release on February 10th.
Included are British Invasion (Kinks / UB40 / Genesis), Jazz Collection
(George Benson / Miles Davis / Ray Charles) and Rock Together (Come
Together-A Night For John Lennon / Jackson Browne: Going Home / Queen-We
Will Rock You). Price and specs vary.

On April 13th Pioneer will release Lain #3: Deus (Signature Series), Sailor
Moon S: Heart Collection #3 (Signature Series), Tenchi In Tokyo #2: A New
Friend (Signature Series), Trigun #3: Wolfwood (Signature Series) and
Beyblade: Majestic Match (V. for the anime fans.

On March 6th Falcon Picture Group has some $9.99 releases including
Adventures Of Jim Bowie #2, Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet #2, Adventures Of
Sherlock Holmes #1, Bulldog Drummond #2 Double Feature, Dr. Christian #1
Double Feature and Third Man #1.

37,916 titles with 336 additions or changes and 337 Pre-Release
announcements. The All Titles list has 38,253 titles. Recent releases

Unfortunately -- according to http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ --
A&E couldn't cut a deal with Universal to license the LAW &
ORDER episode that crosses over with one of the S4 episodes,
so they'll only be including a synopsis of the L&O episode.

Presumably, the same will be true of the crossovers in HOMICIDE's
sixth and seventh seasons, but maybe Universal will be more
accomodating by then.

I hope they have better luck with Fox/MTM with respect to the
PRETENDER/PROFILER crossovers when it comes to releasing the
S3&4 sets of PROFILER.
