He seems to be upset because his cat records on the things. Perhaps that's
another term for bodily functions, or maybe kitty enjoys preserving Meow Mix
ads or old Daktari programs on the little silver discs. Hardly reason enough
to ban DVDs in a household, unless the cat was caught bootlegging his
creations on Ebay.

You CAN record on DVDs. They're known as DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM.
